Adobe Photoshop

It sounds a lot like PSP. That has a variety of toolbars and layers, along with masks (whatever those are [img]wink.gif[/img] lol).

I've got it [img]biggrin.gif[/img] I kind of learnt how to use it by trial and error, aka randomly pressing buttons until it did something cool, then I'd have trouble remembering how to do it again next time [img]tongue.gif[/img] I don't do manuals or tutorials...I've had it for quite a long time now so I've learnt some basic and some more complicated stuff, feel quite proud of myself actually LOL...
Of course some stuff on there still confuzzles me like you wouldn't believe, but you can't have everything can you? [img]wink.gif[/img]
I got it *free* with my new scanner which isn't really new anymore, yay me *lol*
Otherwise I probably couldn't afford it. Heh.

LOL Sam, I kinda went with your 'trial and error' idea, after I read up on layers & the tools (didnt realise how important layers were - lucky you pointed that out to me Steen! [img]wink.gif[/img] ) And I think I have kinda finally worked out the basics - enough to make an ok looking sig anyway, so I am a happy bunny. I tried to read all the help topics but gah! It drove me insane... trial and error rocks!! LOL

Masks are areas you select that you don't want to be affected by filters or something. As well, you can invert your mask so that whatever you do, it ONLY affects a certain part of an image [img]smile.gif[/img] In Photoshop,you turn on Quick Mask Mode (Ctrl+Q) and you use the brush tool to paint on wherever you don't want selected and it looks like you painted translucent red over it then you turn off Mask Mode (Crtl+Q again) and whereever you didn't paint will be selected, it's kinda like putting masking tape over certain parts of a wall before painting it [img]smile.gif[/img]

Well i havent got it, the best to photo editing that i have is Picture it!2001 publishing lol i know the ins and outs of that though. How much is PSP7 and Adobe photoshop? I really wanna save up for a good photo thingymajig cos i need a new one. Any ideas girls?

masks are great for grabbing things like people, something with an uneven edge, you can indeed grab them cleanly! [img]biggrin.gif[/img] Or if you wanna have fun and make selections with a pattern, like tiger stripes of Darren, you can do that too! [img]biggrin.gif[/img] Trial and error is a good way to figure that stuff out, have some fun! *beam*

And that's a lovely sig [img]smile.gif[/img] It's clear, the jpeg quality is good and you didn't put dark text on dark background, already you are a step above the norm [img]wink.gif[/img]

Hannah, I paid about ?35 for PSP7 on amazon.co.uk but it's now been upgraded to PSP8. Not sure how much it is now though.
